When fresh baptisms and fillings of the Spirit come for a specific purpose then we are responsible. But we don’t always like being responsible. So we choose to remain in old habits and lifestyles even as the Lord is filling us with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it’s not that watching TV or movies is evil in a general sense, its that we go right back to watching TV and gaming or whatever we do immediately after a fresh filling of the Spirit or a significant download or baptism of His presence takes place.
So we offend the Lord by not stewarding and cherishing the glory of His Spirit and presence. He draws near and we treat it casually or presume that because our flesh desires some entertainment the Lord will understand and allow us to indulge ourselves a little and then we can get back to being “history-changers.”
So God comes along by free sovereign grace and we take in the baptism or the elevated faith that He inspires but we don’t change our lifestyle and we sit down and let the Spirit’s increase evaporate away through worldly entertainment. This may sound harsh – but it is one of the reasons we have prolonged the coming of the Lord’s glory in the land.
